Daily Bible readings

Why should we meditate?

For strength
Isa.40:31 'But they that wait upon Jehovah shall renew [their] strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not tire; they shall walk, and not faint.'

For revelation
Jn.5:39 'You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me…'

For wisdom & understanding
Ps.119:97-100,130 'Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts… The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.'

For prosperity & success
Joshua 1:8 'Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.'

For victory over sin
Ps.119:9,11 'How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word…. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.'

For fruitfulness, freshness & steady nourishment
Ps.1:1-3 'Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.'
